1. Who operates Groomstone
Groomstone is operated in South Africa by Marvin Williams as a sole proprietor trading as Groomstone. These terms govern use of groomstone.co.za and purchases made through the website.
2. The service
Groomstone sells personalised digital novelty memorials celebrating the symbolic end of bachelorhood through marriage. Groomstone is not a funeral provider, cemetery, dating service or supplier of physical gravestones. Digital memorials are humorous products and must not be presented as notices of a person’s actual death.
3. Customer responsibilities
- You must provide accurate information and have permission to publish the submitted name, dates, photograph and epitaph.
- You may not upload unlawful, hateful, threatening, defamatory, sexually explicit or infringing material.
- You must be at least 18 years old or act with the involvement of a responsible adult.
- You are responsible for keeping the private plot PIN secure.
4. Orders, prices and payment
Prices are displayed in South African rand. A permanent memorial is published only after the payment provider confirms successful payment. An abandoned, cancelled or failed payment does not create a paid memorial. Free Pauper’s Burial markers are temporary, unreserved and automatically cease being publicly listed after 24 hours. Groomstone may correct obvious pricing errors before accepting an order.
5. Moderation and removal
Groomstone may hide, reject or remove content that breaches these terms, infringes another person’s rights, creates a safety risk or is the subject of a credible complaint. This does not limit a person’s right to request access, correction or deletion under applicable privacy law.
6. Availability and liability
We aim to keep memorials available, but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. To the extent permitted by law, Groomstone is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from outages, customer-supplied content or unauthorised sharing of a private PIN. Nothing in these terms excludes rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under South African consumer law.
7. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa. Customers should contact Groomstone first so that complaints can be resolved promptly.
